NHL: 2021-22 Preview – 31. Buffalo Sabres

The NHL 2021-22 season is upon us in just over 5 weeks. I am going to preview the season from the basement of the league to the top, ranking each position group as I go along. The Sabres are rebuilding once more going into this season. They have some nice pieces but still can improveContinue reading “NHL: 2021-22 Preview – 31. Buffalo Sabres”

NHL: Lagace and Pens outlast Sabres 1-0

My Take The season finale was a microcosm is the Sabres season. We outshot the Penguins, and out chanced them. But came away with a 1-0 loss on a goal that was complete nonsense. The refs were pretty bad this afternoon, definitely playing to one side. If you go through all 56 of these recaps,Continue reading “NHL: Lagace and Pens outlast Sabres 1-0”

NHL: Sabres at Penguins Preview 5/8/21

It’s the final preview of the season, and I can’t say I haven’t been looking forward to this moment. It’s been a long year with many downs and very few ups. Our ups have come as a result of the downs in my opinion. We suffered for a month streak where the team lost aContinue reading “NHL: Sabres at Penguins Preview 5/8/21”

NHL: Carter, Penguins outscore Sabres 8-4

My Take The Sabres wanted a track meet, and that is exactly what they got from the first place Penguins. This game was a tale of two halves, one in which Buffalo was competitive and the other not so much. We were out shot for the entirely of the game and that is for certain.Continue reading “NHL: Carter, Penguins outscore Sabres 8-4”

NHL: Sabres at Penguins Preview 5/6/21

Following a two-game sweep of the Islanders, the Sabres are tested again by the Penguins in a two-game set to end the season. Michael Houser will get his third start in four nights and I am not going to delve into why that may cause problems. The fact he has done what he’s done inContinue reading “NHL: Sabres at Penguins Preview 5/6/21”

NHL: Bjork scores Twice in Sabres win over Isles 4-3

My Take I am speechless again. Michael Houser not only wins again, but he has to play even better than yesterday to do it. The scoreboard may indicate a worse outing, but he made some monster saves in this game to keep us in it. He faced many more shots and there were some prettyContinue reading “NHL: Bjork scores Twice in Sabres win over Isles 4-3”

NHL: Islanders at Sabres Preview 5/4/21

As I explained in my preview of their first tilt yesterday, the Sabres needed to attack the Islanders in hopes that they had let their guard down. I believe the Islanders did that against Buffalo last night. We beat them, out worked them and just won the game. I was incredibly pleased with Michael Houser,Continue reading “NHL: Islanders at Sabres Preview 5/4/21”

NHL: Sabres finally overcome Islanders 4-2

My Take I am in disbelief that our second and third best goaltenders this year have been career minor leaguers. Michael Houser pulled off the improbable winning tonight and honestly playing very, very well. Both goals allowed were not on him, as the Sabres finally beat the Islanders this season and avoid the sweep. WeContinue reading “NHL: Sabres finally overcome Islanders 4-2”

NHL: Sabres at Islanders Preview 5/3/21

I really don’t know what to say about tonight’s game with the Islanders. I am reaching a point of demoralization with this squad. We are losing again, and the Islanders are oppressive. They have beaten us time in and time out this year, suffocating our team through the final period. They are way better thanContinue reading “NHL: Sabres at Islanders Preview 5/3/21”
